Lest We Forget

November 11, 2019

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
      In Flanders fields.

by John McCrae

On Friday, November 8, 2019, the students and staff of St. Francis High School gathered at Canadian Martyrs Church to remember and pray for all those who gave their lives in order to protect the freedoms that we are privileged to have in our society.  At St. Margaret School, the students and staff also gathered to pray and remember through liturgy and displays.  In both school communities, there was great respect for those we have lost, those who have served, and those who continue to serve.
