As one of the ways that our parish is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, the first Youth and Children's Mass took place on Sunday, September 24th. Once a month, we will look to our youth to lead us at the 10:45 a.m. Mass. During this first Mass, Fr. Vincent invited the young people of the parish to join him in experiencing the baptism of one of our newest parishioners.
If you have a young person interested in participating in the choir, willing to be a lector, able to assist as an usher, or wanting to volunteer in another way, please contact the parish office. Our secretary will put you in touch with the appropriate contact.
For those in joining the choir, the Canadian Martyrs Children's Choir is geared towards children and youth in grades 4 and higher. They meet Sunday afternoons from 12:30-2:00 p.m. No experience is necessary. Please contact the parish at firstname.lastname@example.org to register or for any inquiries. The choir will be directed by Kathryn Berko who has been a parishioner at Canadian Martyrs Church for the past ten years. She is actively involved in both the Music Ministry and the Children's Ministry. She also holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education degree. Currently, she is the director of the Masters division of the Calgary Boys’ Choir, Principle Accompanist for the Calgary Boys' Choir, and will be directing the senior division of the Calgary Children's Choir for the 2017/18 season. She also has a private piano and voice studio. She is very excited to be starting a children's choir at Canadian Martyrs with the goal of keeping children involved and invested in the Mass as they become older.
We look forward to our next Youth & Children's Mass in October.
