Confirmation 2017

May 24, 2017

One of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, Confirmation is the third rite of initiation.

THE SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

1212 The sacraments of Christian initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist - lay the foundations of every Christian life. "The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life."3

3 Paul VI, apostolic constitution, Divinae consortium naturae: AAS 63 (1971) 657; cf. RCIA Introduction 1-2.

Youth who have not received the sacrament of Confirmation are invited to attend the first class and parent meeting on June 11, 2017 following 10:45 a.m. Sunday Mass.  The first meeting and class will be for approximately an hour.  These candidates need to be baptized in the Catholic faith, have received their First Holy Communion, and have received their First Reconciliation.   Young people who are interested need to be at least in grade six by the beginning of the September 2017 school year and need to be accompanied by at least one of their parents or legal guardians.   Please contact the parish office at 403-284-3311 or come to the parish during office hours to register.  Please refer to the website for office availability (www.canadianmartyrsparish.ca).

The subsequent classes, retreat, and Confirmation Mass are listed in the subsequent information as well as under the Sacraments tab and within the First Communion, First Reconciliation, Confirmation section.  It is important to attend all of the classes and meetings as part of the sacramental preparation program for Confirmation.  Further information will be provided at the first meeting.
