On Sunday, February 26, 2017 as well as on March 5th, the First Communion candidates of Canadian Martyrs Parish celebrated the Eucharist for the first time. The children were very excited, and their families were very proud. Following the Mass and reception, one of the candidates excitedly announced, "First Communion Day is the best day ever!"
Much appreciation is expressed to all of the families who supported their children throughout the program with special gratitude to Miss Ana for preparing the children for receiving the sacrament of Holy Communion. In addition to the First Communion candidates and their families, many hands assisted in ensuring that First Communion Sunday was a memorable day for these young people: the 10:45 a.m. Mass liturgy and music ministries, the hospitality ministry, the decorating committee; the parish office staff; the Catholic Women's League; the Knights of Columbus; Miss Ana; and Fr. Vincent and Fr. Gabriel who concelebrated the Mass. Additional gratitude is extended to Mrs. Williams who created a special prayer book for each candidate. Fr. Vincent also called forward those married couples celebrating 10 and 20 years of marriage this month. Three of the couples were parents of our First Communicants. A special day for many!
Let us pray for our First Communicants and their families that they may be inspired to follow in the footsteps of the Lord and feel His loving presence.
May He bless each and every one of you with many graces. Amen.
